ith a sturdy disregard for the angular-centric, over-produced disco rock that has dominated London’s music scene over the past few years, Yeti has stayed true to their original convictions and served audiences around the world with a much-needed dose of spontaneous, harmony-driven psychedelic pop. Marrying exquisite musicianship and songwriting that cuts straight to the core, Yeti’s sound is at once timeless and effortless. Critics have compared the band’s sound to “pre-rock” Beatles, The La’s, The Kinks, The Byrds, The Coral, Pink Floyd and Love.
Following another round of successful tours in Japan, Europe (supporting Oasis), America and the UK, Yeti camped out at Eastcote Studios to record their long-awaited debut LP “The Legend Of Yeti Gonzales”. The band made no compromises, producing, mixing and even mastering the entire record so that the sound is that of Yeti and no one else.
The album’s lead-off single “Don’t Go Back To The One You Love” is a psychedelic monster of an epic that is an amalgamation of three separate songs from three different genres. You will not hear another single like this in 2008!
The single will be available on iTunes and other digital stores on May 26, and on CD and 7″ on June 2. Also be sure to catch the new video for the single, which features Jane Birkin in a Mustang being chased by a gang of Serbian disney-cops.
